Belated Christmas in Melbourne

After arriving in Melbourne we all gave out our presents. It was a quiet Christmas for Mum and Dad this year as we spent Christmas in Sydney and Deb & Ian spent Christmas in Thailand with his parents. Luckily technology allows us to keep in touch and we were able to Skype each other on Christmas day; although we did have some trouble getting it to work. While we were in Melbourne we were able to catch up with some old friends and just spend some time relaxing with family which was very nice.

Trip To Melbourne

After Christmas in Sydney, we hopped back in the car for the long trek to Melbourne. Rachelle was attending a conference in Melbourne and so hitched a ride with us as well.

Christmas with the Woldhuis'

Christmas this year was in Sydney with Tamara's family. After church, we started to open presents - we were all very spoilt. We now have a webcam and were able to talk (and see) with Mum and Dad in Melbourne and Deb and Ian in Thailand (they were visiting Ian's parents for christmas). We all had a big lunch and then played some games in the afternoon.

Gingerbread Houses

Tamara decided it would be fun to try and make some gingerbread houses for some of the family. They proved to be quite a challenge and even required some work from the resident handyman. But that wasn't the difficult part; they still had to be transported to Sydney and Melbourne. After some very smooth driving they made it to Sydney with only minor damage - let's hope the last ones make it to Melbourne.

Our Christmas Tree

Seeing as though this is our first christmas as a married couple, we needed to get a new christmas tree. Previously, Scott had a 'batchelor' tree (about 30cms tall with no ornaments) so we are both happy with the new tree we have.

One Almighty Storm

I was glad that I put the car in the garage as soon as I got home because 5 minutes later we had a completely out the blue hail storm. I haven't ever seen hail come down so forcefully before and whats more, it was 36 degrees!

Scott's Surprise 30th

Tamara has set an enormous precedent for my 30th Birthday. As if surprising me with my parents arrival wasn't enough, she then continued with Merrillie, Lincoln & Kalista, Phil, Jen & Ryan, Josh & Kaylene, Matt & Deb and Ben & Nicole. We were also joined by our good local friends, John and Mandy. It was a fantastic surprise and caught me totally unaware, but I hope this standard isn't expected to be repeated in 6 years for Tamara!

Tamara and Dad go flying!

Mum and Dad made a surprise visit for my 30th birthday. To try and keep me distracted, Dad insisted that I take him flying but of course Tamara wanted to go first. Both enjoyed their experience but it was a little bumpy and they came back a little worse for wear.

Caloundra Holiday - July 2006

While living in Tamworth, we realised we were much closer to Queensland, so we took a holiday to Caloundra. We stayed for 4 nights and made the most of the included breakfast overlooking the ocean and Bribie Island.
Day 1 we spent travelling. We arrived late that night and to our surprise we were checked into the hotel by the hotel manager's daughter in her flannelet pyjamas (no photo of that). Day 2 we had a drive around the local area and also had afternoon tea with Scott's band teacher, Mr Rogers and his wife.
Day 3 we went to Australia Zoo. It is a fantastic zoo, with lots to see and do. We watched a crocodile show and saw Bindi Irwin perform her kid's songs with mum and dad (Terri and Steve Irwin) cheering in the audience. We both liked the tigers best and bought a few photos as reminders and to raise money for animal conservation at the zoo.
Day 4 yes we went to the big pineapple. It was a bit of a disappointment because it is quite run down. Apparently, developers are trying to run the place down so they can close it, then use the land to build houses. The last place we went to was Underwater World. There was even a fish tank inside a car!

Aunty Deb

Tamara's Aunty, Deb was always such a happy person, as you can see. On Mother's day this year, the family found out Deb had cancer in the pancreas. We had a visit down to Sydney and this was the last time we saw Deb. God called Deb home to heaven a few weeks later.
